About Me

I'm Iheb Mejri

Full Stack Developer

I'm Iheb Mejri, a Full Stack Developer and Software Engineer from Tunisia, specializing in TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, React, Angular, and backend architecture.

I build web applications and backend systems that solve real business problems, from B2B platforms and travel technology to e-learning systems, real-time applications, and business websites.

My experience covers the full development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions to development, API integration, deployment, and production support.

Career

My Journey

  1. Career

I started my professional career in UI/UX design, working closely with teams and clients to understand their needs, define user flows, and turn ideas into practical interfaces.

  2. My first professional role was at Widigital, where I joined as a UI/UX Designer on the Servicima project. I was responsible for redesigning the existing application while keeping the company's established brand identity. Within less than three months, I moved into frontend development and started contributing to backend tasks as well.

This experience gave me an early understanding of both product design and software development.

  3. At Tutosh, I continued developing my engineering skills while working on an e-learning platform. I was responsible for the Live Classroom part and proposed the migration from a jQuery and Express.js application to Angular and NestJS. I rebuilt the Live Classroom with a modern architecture and implemented features such as live streaming, chat, interactive whiteboards, PDF editing, MCQs, screen sharing, and student management.

  4. As a freelancer, I worked on projects with various clients (Biopole, Solvarisk, Tawasoltec, Valicap, and others). On some of these projects I handled everything from A to Z, from UI/UX to deployment. On others I worked as a designer and UI developer. Many of these clients came back later to have me add new features.

  5. At Media Story KW, I worked on more complex travel technology systems, including iTravel KW and the GDS Platform. My work involved backend architecture, microservices, API integrations, travel providers, authentication, payments, Redis, queues, and administration systems.

  6. After leaving Media Story, I joined Black Label Solutions for two months to reinforce their development team on HealthAide (healthaide.io), a telehealth platform for clinics and health brands. I worked on hotfixes for search filters, UI issues, and query fixes. Most of my work was on the real-time communication system: chat between staff, clients, and clinic staff, and between admins and clinic staff. I fixed conversation fetching, added message forwarding, added and removed users from group chats, fixed real-time notifications, and added sound notifications when sending messages.

  7. Career

This path is why I still look at design, frontend, backend, and infrastructure together when I build a product.

Expertise

What I Specialize In

Backend Development

My strongest area is backend development with TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS.

I build APIs, business logic, authentication systems, integrations, and backend architectures designed around the actual requirements of the product.

I have worked with both REST and GraphQL APIs and have experience designing systems that communicate with external services and third-party providers.

Microservices & Backend Architecture

I have experience designing and developing applications using microservices architecture, including API gateways, authentication services, independent business services, Redis, databases, and service-to-service communication.

One of my strongest examples is the GDS Platform, where I designed and developed the architecture around a gateway and independent authentication, flight, and hotel services.

I focus on clear service boundaries, reliable communication, and architectures that stay maintainable as the product grows.

Full Stack Development

I work across both frontend and backend, with professional experience using:

  • React
  • Angular
  • Vite
  • TypeScript
  • JavaScript
  • NestJS
  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • GraphQL
  • REST APIs

I enjoy working on the complete flow of a feature, from the user interface to the API and database behind it.

API Integration

A significant part of my experience involves connecting applications with external services.

I've worked with travel providers, payment gateways, authentication services, communication systems, and other third-party APIs.

I also have experience designing abstraction and mapping layers that allow a platform to provide a unified interface while communicating with different external providers behind the scenes.

UI/UX Design

Although my current focus is software development, UI/UX remains an important part of my background.

I started my career in UI/UX and have worked on:

  1. User flows
  2. Wireframes
  3. Design systems
  4. High-fidelity interfaces
  5. Interactive prototypes
  6. Responsive design
  7. Design iteration
  8. Client presentations

I mainly use Figma and have previous professional experience with Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

This background helps me approach frontend development with a better understanding of usability and product design.

Domains

Industries I've Worked In

My projects have given me experience across several domains:

  • Travel Technology - travel APIs, GDS integrations, flights, hotels, bookings, payments, and PNR workflows
  • E-Learning - education marketplaces, live classrooms, real-time communication, and interactive learning tools
  • B2B Platforms - API platforms, business workflows, administration systems, and multi-company applications
  • Recruitment & Staffing - candidate management, employee management, client assignment, timesheets, and invoicing
  • Medical Equipment - product catalogues, categories, partners, and multilingual corporate websites
  • Trading Platforms - luban/frankincense and olive oil trading platforms
  • Financial Services - insurance and banking fraud prevention

Working across different industries has taught me to focus on understanding the business process first and choosing the technical solution around it.

Process

How I Work

I prefer to understand the problem before jumping into implementation.

When working on a new feature or project, I usually start by understanding the requirements, the users involved, the existing workflow, and the problems that need to be solved.

Depending on the project, my work can cover:

  1. Requirements
  2. Architecture / UX
  3. Implementation
  4. API & Database
  5. Testing
  6. Deployment
  7. Production Support
